As described in the Kilkenny City posts<\/a> page, James and Mary Whelan married in St Canice parish, Kilkenny City in 1840.\u00a0 They had 6 children and were living in Dohans Lane and Granges Road in the 1840s and 1850s.\u00a0 James died circa 1869 and Mary took the two surviving children, Ellen Heade (b 1852) and James Hade (b 1855) to America.\u00a0 They arrived (as Heade) on 18 Oct 1870.<\/p>\n In 1880 they were in Woodbridge, Middlesex, NJ. Mary was shown as the mother in law to head of the house, Barney Freeman. He married Catherine, an elder daughter.<\/p>\n In 1880 Julia Haide was also in Woodbridge. She was b 1855 and arrived in 1871. She is probably also another daughter.<\/p>\n Mary died 1886 (b 1808).<\/p>\n James (b 1855) was a fireman. He married Kate Cooney and they had:<\/p>\n In 1900, they were in Manhattan.
